CHANGANACHERRY SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY (CHASS) is the official organisation of the Archdiocese of Changanassery for social concerns and development interventions addressing the weaker sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed or community. In 1977 CHASS wholeheartedly took up the project of Khadi village industry known as “Chass Khadi”, to empower the unemployed of the society.

Khadi is a hand spun and hand woven cloth which acquired patriotic status during Indian freedom. Khadi stands for all that is local and sustainable in the economy, society and environment. By wearing it, we honour the spinners, weavers and workers who work with their hands. Khadi spirit means fellow-feeling with every living being on earth. It. means the complete renunciation of everything that is likely to harm our fellow creatures. The journey of this eco-friendly fabric has won immense popularity not only in India but all over the world.
